Daring To Ask?
What is the Philosophy of Life ?

As Kate Smith quoted when she was questioned about her philosophy for life, she said it could be stated in just three words; "Try asking God".

She and two other girls , as teenagers went out in a rowboat on the Chesapeake Bay; to their realisation, without a notice, an outgoing tide had swept them far out from the shore and it was nearly dark. They were filled with fear.
They cried for help but no one could hear.

Then she remembered a statement in the Bible that says "For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them" Matt 18:20.

"We have the limit", she said to her friends. She told them God will save them if they prayed. They prayed, and out of the gathering darkness loomed the lines of a boat. They were taken on board and were carried back to safety.

Everyone faces challenges at some point in their lives; some we deem fit to deal with on our own and others sway us in surprise and unexpectancy. The question however is what comes to mind when you are faced with such uncertainties. What triggered Kate's confidence to pray?

Read 1 John 5:14-15

"And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us:
And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him."

It means that our lives are committed to the will and the ways of God, as Christ's life was so committed. The true end of prayer is not getting from God, but giving ourselves to God in believe, hope and trust.
And like Kate, our philosophy of life should be "All things are possible through prayer".

In a later discussion we will take a few steps to what PRAYER entails. Stay tuned !!!
